Pastoral Challenges

Ministry of Parish Catechist

Under the auspices of the Pastoral Development Office it is proposed to begin the training programme for this ministry in January 2014 here in Cork. This is a two year training programme which will include four days of lectures each year and five hours personal study per week, with assignments to be submitted. The course will lead to a qualification of a Certificate or Diploma. Following the training the successful candidates will be commissioned by the Diocese to become the Parish Catechist - a voluntary ministry working alongside and with the direction of the parish clergy in sacramental preparation with families. Information sessions will be held in the Autumns prior to application and interview. Full details are available from your Parish Clergy.
