Under the auspices of the Pastoral Development Office it is proposed to begin the training programme for this ministry in January 2014 here in Cork. This is a two year training programme which will include four days of lectures each year and five hours personal study per week, with assignments to be submitted. The course will lead to a qualification of a Certificate or Diploma. Following the training the successful candidates will be commissioned by the Diocese to become the Parish Catechist – a voluntary ministry working alongside and with the direction of the parish clergy in sacramental preparation with families.
