Devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus has been so strong in Ireland that most people think it originated in Ireland!
Today the Catholic Church commemorates St Margaret Mary Alacoque (1647 – 1690) who was a religious sister at Paray-le-Monial in France. She was given mystical visions as a result of which she worked hard to institute devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus in the Church.
With her we pray today:
“Oh Sacred Heart of Jesus I place all my trust in thee.”
